Tortured Earth Presents

Two of our March conventions were canceled. The COVID restrictions are causing delays and cancellations in a lot of cities. At the earliest, we are looking at April (realistically, May) before the convention circuits begin to open again. Fortunately, our time has not been idled away. We have been creating and refining since the closures began.

The game guide is edited and printed for the graphic design phase. Next on the menu is the editing of the creatures. The creature manuals will be a little different from most other creature manuals. They are shaping up to become more or less expansion material. There are certain spells and abilities that did not fit in the main guide because they referred to creatures. This has been pulled and placed in the appropriate creature manual.

To add interest to the main guide, I've embedded a story in the form of journal entries throughout the document. Does anyone have thoughts or comments on this concept? The game guide is a technical manual and can be rather dry at times. I feel a little interest scattered among the pages couldn't hurt. Could it?

The placement of the material in the creature manual gives both GMs and Players a chance to find valuable information in the books. In addition to spells and abilities, new player races will also appear in the creature manuals. - and yes, plural. There will be two creature manuals released with the main game guide.

Tomorrow is also an important day for Tortured Earth. We actually record our first podcast session. I think I've got a handle on the sound equipment and filters. My poor son and nephew have been interviewed multiple times about a wide range of topics as a means of testing the equipment. The sound quality is surprisingly good. Eventually, I'll have to place sponge or some other sound absorptive material on walls to minimize stray noise.

Once the files are edited and the segments presentable, I plan on putting them either on Google Podcast or some other service. Whoever is reading this, I hope you have some suggestions on appropriate services. The only two I am familiar with are Podcast Addict and Google Podcast. Feedback on this issue would be appreciated.

Sunday afternoon is our next Sanctum Game meeting to discuss the development and direction of the upcoming racing game. This is actually quite exciting. The company will have two new games to promote at the opening of convention season.

Thanks for reading!

    1. Oh, yes! We are still plugging away at it. We just released the 2.0 version, working on a line of miniatures, and pulling two campaigns together. The blog has been quiet largely due to the amount of time spent editing and formatting the final three books.
