New Developments for Tortured Earth

Over the past two years, I've been purchasing green masters of various creatures found in our universe. Yesterday, I mailed sixteen of these masters off to have molds made and begin the casting process. For the average RPG player, this might seem like a natural progression for a company to make.

As the person organizing and managing Tortured Earth, it's a terrifying step into the unknown. Each figure is unique to our universe. The sculptor we've picked up, Dejan Pavlovic you are amazing, has patiently sculpted each of our figures in his spare time. With the COVID 19 restrictions locking down conventions, our revenue stream has been meager, at best. The collection of figures has been a slow process, but ongoing.

For fear of damaging the figures, I've stored each in an insulated container in a room kept at 76 degrees Fahrenheit. Yesterday, I packaged all 16 in a box and shipped it through the US Postal service to our caster to be incinerated during the mold making process. Needless to say, I am a bit nervous to see to results.

Fortunately, the mold maker we are using is quite competent and the caster knowledgeable. We will launch the miniature production line later this year (2021) and should have a full line available at the start of 2022. The ultimate goal is to have a starting line of nearly 32 figures (16 Playable, 16 Creatures) with recommended supplements from other companies.

At the moment, figures closely affiliated with the Tortured Earth universe can be found with Bombshell Miniatures and are produced by Patrick Keith. As our contact list grows through the convention circuit, we are hoping to add more miniature creators to this list.

On the writing front, Kevin and I are working on two new modules. The follow-up campaign for Mountains of Mists and Mystery is finishing play testing and Kevin's in the editing phase of his horror campaign. Fortunately, the nightmare editing process has taught us a couple of valuable lessons, so we are trimming some time by starting with files in the proper format.

We have also converted our convention modules into a rules lite version of the game. This packaged product contains dice, 3' X 4' maps, rules lite GM and Player's Guides, 10 Character Sheets, and reference handouts. The goal behind the kit is to give players a chance to experience Tortured Earth without having to purchase the books. Those buying the kit have compared it to the D&D Basic Set - and it pretty much is the same product.

Artice, who was essential in the production of the 1.0 version of Tortured Earth, has expressed an interest in writing a module for the new system. His tale takes place in north Louisiana and boasts a rich and diverse culture emerging after the Broadcast.
