Twisted Lords Gaming Convention

A big part of promoting your own game is finding venues and outlets to promote the product. This week, we are in Midwest City, Oklahoma at Twisted Lords Gaming Convention. Compared to other shows on our circuit, it's a smaller show solely focused on tabletop gaming.

These shows are rarely huge money makers for independent developers. Rather, these are networking and promotional events used to showcase new developments. Scattered among these tables are games ranging from quick board game-style gamest historical reaction games to epic roleplay scenarios.

One fellow developer, Patrick Keith with Bombshell Miniatures, produces a wide range of science fiction figures. His system is definitely one we will be play testing later during the convention. His miniatures have incredible definition and are adaptable to a wide range of settings. Naturally, our interest in his line is for applications in our own game. However, his system seems robust and diverse.

Another interesting sight at these types of conventions are the crafters. Dragonwyck Embroidery is a single owner proprietor who produces a wide range of cloth products. Cloth banners, custom dice bags, and specialized display cases are but a few of his table items. Like Tortured Earth, he follows an extensive convention circuit circulating among nearly 50 shows pre-COVID. William will take custom orders and ship them directly to you.

Although I am not a hardcore board game player, Shoot Out at Dry Gulch definitely has appeal (Produced by Nerd Alert Games). The game centers on 'team' play with alliances and negotiations playing a big part of game play. Naturally, these tenuous affairs and erupt into mass chaos the moment better opportunities are available. The result is a free-for-all with the last player standing being the winner. Of course, the prospect of grand scale madness has attracted the attention of the entire Tortured Earth team and we are signed up for an evening session tomorrow night.

Of course, the whole purpose of driving hundreds of miles to Midwest City is to promote our game. A special thanks goes out to the Tortured Earth team with me in Oklahoma, traveling to Texas, and running sessions in Serbia!

Thanks for reading!
