YC3 Day 2
Today was a good day. We broke
even at the show and actually moved forward. We were fortunate. A few of our
friends around us didn't fare quite as well. The crowd was there but true of
the current climate, spending was slow.
A few of my vendor friends I've
associated with for a few years now also commented on the slower spending at
the show. I think a large part of the lower performance of some vendors fell
mostly to their style of selling. As mentioned before, I'm a big proponent of
presentation and performance. Those vendors simply sitting behind the booth
didn't do well.
One vendor across from us was
selling soaps. In all honesty, I was quite impressed with her operation. She
was making the product herself, packaging looked good, and the product itself
was of good quality. As far as a product went, she was spot on.
However, she was at a comic con. Lavender
bath bombs won’t appeal to a majority of the population. Now, Mystic’s Battle
Salve or Bruce Banner Bombs would peak interest. After a short conversation, she
seemed open to the idea of shifting names to match the color schemes of her
products, creating a little more flourish in her naming, and sprucing up the
table a little. I’m anxious to see how she does at our next meeting.
As far as the convention itself
is concerned, it’s a good show. There are loads of things to do, the vending
floor is diverse, and there seems to be a nightlife associated with the
convention. We’re definitely returning to the show next year.
The only complaint I have is
actually against myself. I’m from south Louisiana. When we left, it was 85
degrees Fahrenheit. It hasn’t gotten above 55 degrees Fahrenheit since we’ve
been here. I hate being cold. I’m miserable.
I’ve got to pack at least one set
of warm clothes in my bag or keep a duffle bag with a couple of changes of warm
clothes. These cooler climates are killing me.
Hope you enjoyed the read.
